280 cups of tea were drunk to make this painting!

“London based artist Enrique Gavilanes uses recycled tea bags to create unique paintings. The artist will be exhibiting in a group show at the Brent Artists Resource Gallery at Willesden Green, London.

'After drinking my tea, what people throw away, the tea bag, I dry and keep for making my art. I find that used tea-bags are very evocative for making art. Its tea dyed appearance after being used to make a cup of tea evokes in me a sense of a precious and delicate material that I transform in my art into a work in which I explore concerns of cultural memory, time and the ancient, the everyday, transformation and spirituality.'
