Bettys Cafe Tea Rooms - York

Bettys Cafe Tea Rooms - York

In 1936 Frederick Belmont, Bettys founder, travelled on the maiden voyage of the Queen Mary, during which time he was planning a new café in York. The luxury liner provided the required inspiration, and the ship's interior designers were commissioned to recreate the magnificent panelling, pillars and mirrors in the elegant new premises.

Favourite dishes include Swiss rösti, Alpine macaroni, and Yorkshire Rarebit, plus a fine selection of cakes, patisserie and desserts. Children have always been welcome, and there's a 'Little Rascals' menu, books, toys, organic baby food and both gents' and ladies' baby-changing facilities are excellent.

A café pianist enhances the atmosphere during the evening. Guide dogs only.
