Gilbert White's Tea Parlour

Gilbert White's Tea Parlour

Gilbert White's House & Garden and The  Oates Collection can be found within one of England's newest National Parks. The South Downs National Park is England's newest National Park, having become fully operational on 1 April 2011.

The great 18th Century naturalist Gilbert White described his lovely village of Selbourne as a "rural, sheltered, unobserved retreat" and he could have been writing these words today!

The Tea Parlour within his home is licensed and serves a delicious range of traditional fare and wonderful home made cakes accompany an extensive range of freshly brewed speciality teas. The Tea Parlour is furnished and decorated in period style, with original family oil paintings on the walls.

This is a wonderful venue in which to spend the day and there is much to see within the house and gardens which will delight children as well as adults. Spend the day here and then enjoy lovely food and delicious teas in The Tea Parlour and do visit the very attractive shop before you leave.

Please note that Admission is FREE to The Tea Parlour
