Muffins Tea Shop

In summer a lovely walled cottage garden is just the place for afternoon tea. At other times the light and spacious tea shop with its pretty tablecloths and pine furniture is a magnet for tourists. Parts of Lostwithiel date from the late thirteenth century, but Muffins has moved with the times and serves a variety of tasty meals throughout the day, and with the emphasis whenever possible in using fresh local produce.

The Cornish Cream Teas are hard to beat, with their delicious Trewithen clotted cream and strawberry jam, or you can try the famous home-made muffins.

Children are especially welcome at Muffins and particulaly well catered for!

Do remember to look at Muffins' famous blackboard to view a list of their daily freshly baked, home made cakes.

Choose from a delicious range of Afternoon Teas designed to appeal to every appetite from being a little peckish to being seriously ravenous!:

Traditional Cream Tea;   consists per person of two delicious home made scones with Trewithen Farm clotted cream, Boddington's strawberry jam plus freshly brewed tea.

Muffins Full English Tea;  This consists of a delicious plate containing cucumber or tomato & cheese sandwiches, home made scone with jam & clotted cream, a slice of one of Lindsay Southgate's delicious cakes all accompanied with a pot of top quality tea

Muffins' Luxury Full English Tea;  Treat yourself to the ultimate in afternoon teas and enjoy smoked salmon sandwiches, home made scone with jam and clotted cream, and a slice of mouthwateringly delicious cake all accompanied by a pot of superb tea.

For those days when you would like a little less to eat enjoy Muffins' "Scone For One" or "The Gentleman's Tea" which comprises a home made cheese scone, your choice of cake from the blackboard and a pot of tea for one!

Muffins is very proud of the selection of teas that they offer their guests and these include Tregothnan Cornish Tea in Classic or Earl Grey blend, Twinings Tea, and including such specialities as Earl Grey, Darjeeling, Assam, Lapsang Souchon, Green & Decaffeinated Teas. These will be perfectly brewed and served!

You can also buy food and gifts to take home from the MUFFINS DELI which is packed with lovely goodies from Cornwall and further afield and many of these tasty food items feature on the menu so you can try before you buy!  Make your visit to Muffins last a little longer by taking some of their delicious food home with you!deli.
