The Market Place Teashop

The Market Place Teashop

A charming tea shop, full of character with its seventeenth-century flagstones, bare stone walls and open fireplace. In previous lives it was a pub and a gentleman's outfitters kitting out the local farm workers.

Despite these rustic surroundings, carefully selected house blend and speciality teas are served in silver teapots by uniformed waitresses, and accompanied by a tempting list of goodies: meringues filled with cream and strawberries, Yorkshire curd cheesecake, fruit tarts and freshly baked scones might appear on the daily-changing menu. Savoury dishes include home-made steak pie with vegetables, and prices are reasonable.

The upstairs artisan shop sells chinaware, glassware, prints and original paintings.
