Edinburgh's most famous, stylish and delicious Afternoon Tea at is served in The Palm Court and in The Drawing Room at The Balmoral.

With its sparkling Venetian chandelier, its palm trees and stunning burgundy and white china, The Balmoral's Palm Court sets an elegant theme for afternoon tea. Up on the balcony, a harpist plays gentle traditional music to soothe and calm while waiters and waitresses in neat black and white deliver pots of tea and tiered cake stands to the table.

The Balmoral Afternoon Tea

The Balmoral Afternoon Tea offers all the traditional tea-time treats including a tasty, and, always, interesting selection of sandwiches including fresh salmon, cucumber and creme fraiche on brown malted bread; honey roast ham on oatmeal bread; egg mayonnaise, chive and piquollo pepper; and Scottish beef, red onion marmalade on malted brown bread to name but a few.

Follow these savouries with your choice from a variety of delicious home made fruit scones, heather honey scones, and mini chocolate scones all accompanied by Cornish clotted cream and a selection of preserves. Traditional Balmoral shortbread and an enticing selection of tea pastries from The Balmoral Bakery such as Dundee cake, classic sponge cake and chocolate tiffin will then be offered.

This Afternoon Tea treat will be served with your choice from a wide range of carefully selected loose leaf teas such as Royal Scottish Balmoral Blend, Famous Edinburgh, Earl Grey, Assam, Darjeeling, Ceylon, Lapsang Souchon, and China Keemun. Also available are a fine selection of popular Green Teas, Gunpowder, Japanese Cherry and Jasmine.

The very fashionable, finest and rare Silver Needle and Formosa Toppest Oolong Teas are now offered and available for a small supplement.

The Balmoral Tea can also be enjoyed with a delicious glass of Special Cuvee or Brut Rose.
