This family business, situated only about 30 minutes from Liverpool or Manchester, was established in 1947 and initially grew flowers and vegetables selling them locally until the owner, Harry Davenport, opened a green grocers in Barnton. Bridge Farm was purchased and in 2006 the Davenports opened the farm Davenports Tea Room for afternoon teashop which won many awards and the tea room opened in November 2007 and has already achieved great recognition for the quality of the foods and teas served and attracting visitors from far and wide.

Davenports is situated within the Weaver Valley and is ideal for walkers, cyclists, horse riders and boaters and all are very welcome.

The Alice Room is styled on a quaint old English Tea Room with antique lace table cloths and bone china tea services and is themed around Alice in Wonderland as Lewis Carroll (pen name for Charles Lutwidge Dodgson) was born less than two miles away. The Queens Room is 1930’s in style with William Morris Wallpaper, mahogany furniture, antique lace tablecloths and bone china tea service.

A delicious choice of varieties of homemade scones* ,( for example; Lavender; Rose; Cherry or Raisin, Plain; and Cheese) served warm with butter or Cornish clotted cream and locally homemade jam. This is served with a pot of delicious tea chosen from a wide range of specialist loose leaf teas (subject to availability) brewed to individual tastes.

Please note this must be booked at least 24 hours in advance - however, it IS worth calling as they may be able to accommodate your booking with less notice.

Traditionally served on a vintage china tiered cake stand with a choice of finger sandwiches.  A delicious choice of varieties of homemade scones* ,( for example; Lavender; Rose; Cherry or Raisin, Plain; and Cheese) served warm with Cornish clotted cream & locally made jam and a variety of home made mini cakes including chocolate eclairs; fruit loaf; meringue nests filled with fresh cream & seasonal fruit; chocolate brownies and macaroons.

A pot of delicious loose leaf tea chosen from Tea Room Blend; Kwazulu; De-caffeinated Ceylon; Earl Grey or Darjeeling BOP accompanies this Afternoon Tea.

A delicious selection of homemade scones* ,( for example; Lavender; Rose; Cherry or Raisin, Plain; and Cheese) served warm with Cornish clotted cream & locally made jam  followed by a selection of  luxurious mini cakes including chocolate eclairs; fruit loaf; meringue nests filled with fresh cream & seasonal fruit; chocolate brownies and macaroons PLUS one of Katja’s Gold Award Winning cup cakes.

Enjoy this Afternoon Tea with a pot of loose leaf tea chosen from the full range of teas within the excellent tea menu.

These Afternoon Teas can be enjoyed with a glass of champagne.

Choice of tea or soft drink served with finger sandwiches. The sweet arrives in the form of a biscuit and a home made undecorated fairy cake which is served with a small dish of home made butter icing and LOTS of cake decorating bits for the children to decorate their own cakes! What fun!

Depending on the age of the children Davenports can tailor this Afternoon Tea to suit their appetites and tastes.

The Teas

A wide range of loose leaf teas brewed to your own requirements are available and Belinda and Ian Davenport are more than happy to advise you on your choice so be adventurous! The tea menu is well described and includes; Tea Room Blend; Yorkshire Tea; Lancaster Blend; Kwazula; Assam; De-caffeinated Ceylon; Earl Grey (Atkinsons) and Earl Grey (Tregothnan) plus Iced Earl Grey; Darjeeling Afternoon; Lapsang Souchong; Chinese Rose Petal and for the ultimate tea experience choose and enjoy Jasmine Giant Flowering Tea; Damask Rose Buds or Jasmine Green Tea Pearls

Please note: that Davenports Tea Room can offer diabetic and gluten free afternoon teas preferably with a week's notice.
