"Taking Afternoon Tea" in The Promenade at The Dorchester has been a tradition for 75 years and the phrase still conjures up sumptuous images of well-mannered staff, delightfully luxurious surroundings, beautifully-prepared delicacies and superb teas served in fragile bone china.

In The Promenade, recently refurbished by the renowned Thierry Despont, you can savour delicious finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, and fresh pastries made by the restaurant's patissier, all served with a speciality tea such as China Oolong, Russian Country or the Dorchester's own house blend (or glass of champagne for special occasions).

The Dorchester Afternoon Tea:

Ths consists of deliciously flavoured finger sandwiches including cucumber with cream cheese on caraway seed bread, egg mayonnaise with shiso cress on white bread, chicken with wholegrain mustard mayonnaise on basil bread and smoked salmon on granary bread; warm, freshly baked raisin and plain scones served with homemade strawberry jam, seasonal jam & clotted cream. Following this will be a selection of specially created French pastries all accompanied by tea chosen from The Promenade's amazing tea menu!

The Dorchester Champagne Afternoon Tea:

The same as above with the added attraction of a glass of Dorchester Rose champagne or a Rossini cocktail.

The Dorchester Laurent Perrier Rose Afternoon Tea:

The same as before but offers a glass of Laurent Perrier Rose champagne.

The Dorchester High Tea:

Proving to be extremely popular is the innovative Dorchester High Tea which is also served from 2.30pm until 6.30pm and which offers such treats as Dorchester Rose or Brut champagne. finger sandwiches, followed by your choice of main course, for example, chicken and wild mushroom cannelloni with confit tomatoes and a cheese sauce, pave of salmon infused with tarragon and mustard, served with chive mash and a citrus kumquat butter, fig and goat cheese tart with pepperonata, crisp fennel shavings and a tomato, basil coulis. Complete this superb high tea by enjoying a selection of French pastries and your choice of teas. If you are meeting friends in the late afternoon, after work or going to the theatre this is THE perfect afternoon tea to choose!

AND......Introducing  The Spatisserie Afternoon Tea:

Tucked away in The Dorchester Spa is the iniquely named Spatisserie, an opulent but intimate tea salon. The Spatisserie Afternboon Tea reflects the ethos "a little of what you love is good for you". You can, of course, choose to have your Afternoon Tea with or without Champagne.

You will love the selection of mouth-wateringly tasty open sandwiches and delight and indulge in a selection of delicate pastries including The Spatisserie's signature minature scones. Your choice of beautifully served delicious teas will accompany this afternoon treat!

OCTOBER HALF TERM - MUST DO - THE MAD HATTER'S TEA PARTY

Mad Hatters Tea Party at The DorchesterTHE ANNUAL MAD HATTER'S TEA PARTY RETURNS TO THE DORCHESTER  - OCTOBER HALF TERM:   

The Promenade at The Dorchester will once again be transformed into a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party by English National Ballet for October half term. This hugely popular event is fast becoming a Dorchester Tradition and a "Must Do" for Parents and Children!  BOOK NOW!
 
From Monday 25 to Friday 29 October 2010, The Dorchester will be putting on its special afternoon tea with entertainment by English National Ballet’s young dancers inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. Dancers dressed as some of the favourite characters will be found pirouetting, plié-ing and jeté-ing amongst the children and the specially created decorations and flower displays. Children can look out for favourite characters including the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, the Dormouse and Alice herself.

Accompanying adults will be able to sink back into The Promenade’s inviting sofas and enjoy the entertainment with a glass of champagne, delicious savoury finger sandwiches, homemade scones and a selection of indulgent cakes and pastries all accompanied by a wonderful pot of tea chosen from one of the world's best tea menus! 
Afternoon Tea Sittings are at 2.15pm and 4.45pm. For every Children's Story Time Afternoon Tea that is ordered £1 will be donated to Cancer Research UK.
