The Montagu at Hyatt Regency London - The Churchill
After the crowds of Oxford Street and shopping in Selfridges or John Lewis, the calm colours and contemporary décor of The Montagu Lounge at the Hyatt offer a restful haven and a stylish afternoon tea. In chilly months, an open blazing fire at the far end of the room creates a cosy glow; in summer, the room is cool and comfortable.
The generosity of space between the tables means that private conversations really are private which makes The Montagu Salon (which overlooks the picturesque Garden Square) is ideal for business or social afternoon teas and while guests chat, waiting staff deliver elegant tiered stands bearing neat sandwiches, warm scones, pretty pastries and mini desserts.
The pots of tea are served with silver tea strainers and the clotted cream and thick fruity jam come in their own unique minature glass kiln jars and silver spoons.
For those with smaller appetites or less time you can opt for; fruit scones with clotted cream & strawberry jam accompanied with a delightfully refreshing pot of tea, a selection of homemade pastries and tea or a selection of freshly made finger sandwiches and tea.
However we strongly advise you to "steal" some time to relax, spoil yourself, your family and friends and enjoy either;
The Montagu Afternoon Tea: offers elegant tiered stands bearing a selection of traditional British sandwiches with innovatively flavoured fillings which are changed daily and created to be enjoyed on a variety of breads including tomato, carrot or rye.
Follow these with warm scones served with generous portions of strawberry jam and Cornish clotted cream and then indulge in a wonderful selection of pretty French pastries, fruit tartlets and mini desserts which are created daily and offer a different choice of patissierie to delight every afternoon tea guest.
Enjoy this delicious afternoon tea with a pot of fine tea chosen from an excellent tea menu which includes, to name just a few, the best Assams, Earl Grey, Lapsang, Darjeeling, Ceylon, Rosebud China Black, Green teas and the superb organic Silver Needle White tea.
The Churchill Afternoon Tea is as above but enjoyed with a glass of Pol Roger Champagne - Sir Winston Churchill's favourite .
