Tiny Tim's Tearoom

Tiny Tim's Tearoom

Tiny Tim's Tearoom is located in the heart of Canterbury in a 400 year old haunted building. This family run tearoom has been lovingly restored after a devastating fire in the 1980's and the light and beautiful building has been furnished in style with a 1930's setting. From the glittering chandeliers to the black piano and the haunted ghost room our visitors can relax and enjoy a fine cup of tea in this oasis of Canterbury.

Jo Dench-Owens, having worked at BAFTA organizing award events, decided to use her experience and focus on her love of baking and used this as her inspiration for a new tearoom. Jo and Phil, after just one visit to Canterbury, decided to sell their house in East London and move to Canterbury. After spending a year hunting for exactl the right premises, this 400 year old Tudor building became available. They fell in love with the character of the building and its original fireplaces and spent the next year refurbishing - all done by themselves, with Jo even laying 1000 tiles! This labour of love was named "Tiny Tim's Tearoom" and opened in April 2007 to local acclaim.

Tiny Tim's offers breakfast, light lunches and afternoon tea every day, except Monday, all year. There is a wide selection of cakes, pastries, scones and our famous Plump Pilgrim to choose from, all baked from scratch every morning on the premises by our in-house bakers. As well as the Traditional Afternoon Tea, High Tea and Cream Tea on offer, they also have a breakfast and lunch menu with wonderful hot and cold dishes such as smoked salmon and scrambled egg, ploughman's lunches and homemade soup. Jo and Phil are very keen to use locally sourced products where possible.

Jo and Phil Owens offer their guests a good range of top quality, locally produced teas including English Breakfast, Assam, Ceylon, Earl Grey, Kentish Apple, Lapsang Soushong and Jasmine to name but a few and all are described fully on the menu. Speciality teas for special occasions such as Apple Viennese, Strawberry and Christmas Tea are available.

Tiny Tim's is licensed.

TRADITIONAL AFTERNOON TEA

A selection of dainty finger sandwiches including egg and cress; ham; cucumber and smoked salmon, two freshly baked scones with butter and clotted cream and a selection of finger cakes and pastries served on a 3-tiered stand and accompanied by a pot of tea.

CREAM TEA

Two freshly baked scones served warm with lashings of jam, butter and clotted cream also served on a 3-tiered cake stand and accompanied by a pot of tea.

Similar to the Afternoon Tea but the sandwiches are substituted for two toasted crumpets with a poached egg. This is a delightful warm alternative to Afternoon Tea.
