It was in 1934 that 24-year-old Keith Spicer founded the business, using the parlour of the family home in Bournemouth as the blending department and the distribution fleet consisting of a well-used but serviceable butcher?s bicycle. The company grew rapidly thereafter becoming an important supplier to the local hotel and catering industries and by 1970 had moved to its current location in Ferndown Industrial Estate Dorset.

In 2013 Spicers added a large manufacturing plant in Newcastle to support its blending expertise with the facilities to produce high volume bespoke tea blends.
