AVT Tea Services is an international provider of decaffeinated tea and tea extracts.  We are part of the AVThomas Group a Chennai based company involved in activities including tea production and active ingredient extraction from natural sources. Our decaffeinated tea is manfactured in our own facility on the outskirts of Kochi, South India and has the capability to remove caffeine from tea using all approved methods.  We are also able to manufacture and supply purified tea caffeine. 

The recently commissioned instant tea plant has been built on the same site enabling customers to benefit from synergies in product development and production and to make maximum use of AVT's wide-ranging expertise.  The factory has a broad range of capabilities including both cold and hot water soluble base powders as well  as green instant teas and liquid aromas.  Our production facilities are supported by an experienced and knowledgable sales department based in Battersea, South London.

It was in 1934 that 24-year-old Keith Spicer founded the business, using the parlour of the family home in Bournemouth as the blending department and the distribution fleet consisting of a well-used but serviceable butcher?s bicycle. The company grew rapidly thereafter becoming an important supplier to the local hotel and catering industries and by 1970 had moved to its current location in Ferndown Industrial Estate Dorset.

In 2013 Spicers added a large manufacturing plant in Newcastle to support its blending expertise with the facilities to produce high volume bespoke tea blends. Spicers is now the chosen tea supplier of some of the largest UK supermarkets at the same time offering a broad portfolio of well-known branded teas.

 

 

Eminent Tea Consultant, Malcolm Ferris-Lay has over four decades of experience in the Tea Industry.

Malcolm started his training with Twining's in 1968 and then went on to work with one of London's premier Tea Brokers until the demise of the London Tea Auctions.

In 1984 he joined his family tea business with its four retail tea and coffee shops together with its wholesale business. After the successful sale of the business Malcolm became Sales & Marketing Director and later Managing Director of Williamson & Magor, probably the world's finest family owned tea growers and packers.

Malcolm is recommended by The UK Tea & Infusions Association (previously known as The UK Tea Council) for services as an expert trainer for Afternoon Tea for business conferences, world famous hotels, city and country hotels and tea rooms.

1. Sourcing tea directly from the growing regions, whether this be from the centralised auctions, through brokers or directly with the estate owners, the focus is, as always, on highest possible quality. This can often include the rarest finds of just 2-3Kg lots of truly superb teas!
2. Once imported in to the UK, the company is able to supply teas internationally in varying quantities from 0.5Kg up to full container loads.
