McLeod Russel has been growing tea in India since 1869 and is today the world's largest tea plantation company. We produce approximately 120 million kilos of quality tea from our 65 tea estates/factories comprising 53 tea estates and factories in Assam and West Bengal in India, 6 in Vietnam, 5 in Uganda and the world renowned Gisovu tea estate in Rwanda. Our tea business directly employs over 90,000 people, a large number of whom are women.

We have a range of certifications which include Rainforest Alliance, Fairtrade, ISO22000 and HACCP. All our estates are audited and registered with the Ethical Tea Partnership and we are also SEDEX registered. We comply with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)/Sustainable Agricultural Practice (SAP), EU Maximum Residue Levels, US FDA and Japanese import norms with a number of our estates being 2-4D Free.

We offer a wide range of bulk and retail delivery options for our clients. Many of our tea factories have the facility to pack tea in bulk Vacuum packaging, resulting in our clients receiving a uniquely fresh product. We produce high quality Orthodox and CTC varieties of black and green teas. Our HACCP certified state-of-the-art blending facility in Assam is able to meet most of our clients? customised blending requirements.

We have offices in Dubai and Mombasa to ensure continuity in our export supply chain. These sites offer direct point of sale options for estate sourced teas, multi origin blends and finished retail ready packaged options of different teas for our growing global client base.

We are committed to the welfare of our employees, their families, and the communities near our estates through various ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. We have 154 hospitals and 42 crèches in our tea estates, all equipped and staffed by qualified medical personnel. We also run free eye clinics in our tea estates. We have constructed and support 149 schools in and around our tea estates, including the famous Assam Valley School which is acknowledged to be among the top 10 residential public schools in India (www.assamvalleyschool.com).
